I disagree with Doug that the republicans are not evil. Most are vehemently supporting the genocide taking place in Gaza, the "war" in Ukraine, and the deletion of what is left of freedoms still partially enjoyed in the USSA. In general, there is no greater evil than government, for nothing else has the ability to affect the lives of so many in any single action, usually to the detriment of those people. As Washington stated: "Government is not reason, it is not eloquence-it is force! Like fire it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master; never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action." Too late!
If there is going to be a "new" 3rd Party, it should be the Constitutional Party, as that was the intent when this country was founded. There is a Conservative Party, and I do not know where they are headquartered right now, but I know a lack of funds contributes to the fact that they do not have much money to promote. For the life of me, I cannot understand what the Libertarians stand for! In view of who they have just elected as their top guy, and the way they treat Donald Trump, I am very inclined to understand why Doug said what he did. Both political parties currently are corrupt, but I do not see anything coming in that would change the problems that we have. Unfortunately in politics, you are only as good as your last "gig", and while David Nolan may have been a very fine man, what has been left needs to make some changes.
Indeed. I assume you'd say the same of our Founders then? They're "only as good as their last gig"?
Those who had the vision and dedication to create something with the great potential of this country -- which I'd argue largely worked for about 100 years -- cannot be held responsible for how the people who follow them behave or for the yahoos who end up destroying it, nor should Dave Nolan be held responsible or judged for what others have done to the LP.
And I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I cannot understand why Doug said what he said. His ugly, smug dismissal of someone he clearly did not know, along with his blanket condemnation of everyone ever involved in the party, shows such an incredible mix of arrogance and ignorance, he sounds like some mindless hack on CNN. Every bit as pompous, unreasoning, and wrong.
Though it has since been hijacked, corrupted, and largely rendered impotent, when it was founded and for many years afterwards the LP had a very clear stance, Lauran. You can research it if you like. And over the years some truly brilliant and highly principled people have been involved in the Party. You can easily research that too. Sadly, Gary W may be right about what the LP has become, and we can mourn its loss, but to my mind should not ridicule those who had the vision and those who've put forth the extraordinary effort to make a real difference in this country.
Personally, I'd take Dave Nolan's legacy over Doug Casey's any day.
I have followed you for some time, Doug, and often agree with what you have to say. But the sheer ignorance and the smirking, giddy arrogance of your comments about David Nolan in this video are sickening. I knew Dave, and he was an extremely intelligent, thoughtful guy who founded the LP for all the right reasons, largely in reaction to Nixon abandoning the Gold Standard in 1971.
I couldn't agree more that many of the candidates and people active in the party are as ridiculous and ineffective as you say, and it's a terrible pity that the LP has never lived up to its potential. But that's not the fault of those who created and built the party, as well as so many of its members, who have a true belief and dedication to the Constitution, the vision of the Founders, and the cause of Freedom.
You say Dave was just seeking "15 minutes of fame"? You have no insights into his motives and you couldn't be more wrong. You think Dave's "one distinguishing thing" was coming to some obscure event of YOURS? The hubris is laughable, and pathetic. Educate yourself. See if you can find some humility somewhere in your heart. And look in the mirror. You hurl a barrage of cheap insults at Dave and members of the LP -- most of which in fact perfectly apply to you: "nerdy, cranky intellectuals, weird, geeky, off-putting."
At least David Nolan and many others in the LP have made a sincere effort to move this country in the right direction. What have YOU done for the cause of freedom? What's YOUR legacy? Making a bunch of money writing books and financial newsletters? Then using that money to escape to South America when the going gets tough? Wow. Congratulations. The Founders, who risked everything to stay and fight for this country, would be so proud.
Movies, watch 4:10 to Yuma, the black and white original with Glen Ford. Best Western movie I hve ever seen, and one of the very best of all the movies I've watched.
Democracy is defined as "The policy prescriptions of leftist fascists and socialists. Its connection to elections is theft".
I live in Oklahoma, and the area was called "Black Wall Street". It has been totally built up, with many new businesses. Black activist lawyers are promising the 3 or 4 survivors millions of dollars in reparations, after the whole thing went to a lawsuit by their relatives. It was a horrendous episode, but no one quite knows the whole story, and never has. Countless acres have been dug up looking for the bones of people who died in the fires and the chaos, and nothing has been found yet.
She was referring to the fact that she was emotional. Having birthed two children blah blah blah, therefore, she has the right to be emotional about the climate hysteria. It is in fact a hysteria since there is no evidence behind the climate hysteria LOL!
The Democrat Party was behind the burning of Tulsa because at the time it was considered the Wall Street of blacks progressing. They were building wealth and then got burned out.
You are deluded. Trump is a criminal and any other view is a denial of American legal impartiality. If you’ve reached that conclusion you basically are on the side of dictatorship.
I Live in the UK so struggle to understand what is going on over there. But my fundamental belief is that a nation in which the courts are seen as political instruments is a dictatorship in the making. Trump appears to have been convicted by his fellow citizens after a lengthy and vey open trial, but you say it’s unfair and biased. I’ve never come across this type of distrust of legal process here and feel it’s a really bad sign about the state of the USA as a democracy

The Libertarian Party is less of a political party than a social club for those with Asperger’s

Laurel Collins is a member of Parliament for the NDP socialist/communist party in the peoples republic of kanada.
She is also fucking NUTS

America was not built by defeatest quislings such as you Casey.

He is, indeed, a felon. But, that says much more about the system than it does about Trump.

Democracy is messy.
