In this age of American Oligarchs and University endowments (Stanford University had about $36.5 Billion as of August, 2023) one would think that someone might step up and build a desalination plant and convert ocean water into fresh water for use in areas that desperately need water like California. I’ve read that it would cost about $100 million, mere chump change, to build a 25 million gallon per day facility. Sure, you’d have to create some very necessary jobs… and pay them their wages… but I guess that money is doing more good sitting in some institutions’s or billionaire’s bank account.
