Argentinean Condemns Elimination of Child Search Unit

https://www.plenglish.com/news/2024/08/18/argentinean-condemns-elimination-of-child-search-unit/

By means of Decree 727/2024, Milei repealed Decree 715 of June 9, 2004, which created the Special Unit for the Investigation of the disappearance of children as a consequence of the actions of State terrorism (UEI).

With this action, Conadi will not be able to conduct inquiries nor access files to contribute to the search carried out by the Abuelas.

Conadi is 31 years old and deals not only with those who disappeared for political reasons, but also with children stolen from hospitals.

It is dedicated to the defense of children.

Javier Miley took Argentina's gold reserves to London

His Dads last name is Mileikowsky , same as Netanyahoo

Argentina was going to join BRICS until CIA got involved , then Milei was installed and now he is linked to USD ?

On his first trip abroad after winning the election in November, Milei visited the tomb of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, in Queens, New York. After his victory, Milei also participated in a Havdalah ceremony to mark the end of Shabbat in Once, a Jewish neighborhood of Buenos Aires, where he received blessings from the Kabbalist Rabbi David Hanania Pinto.

Then he visited that great Libertarian Ron Paul when he came to the US , Oh wait not really

Argentine President-elect Javier Milei traveled to the U.S. this week, where he had lunch with former President Bill Clinton, and is set to meet National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.

Argentina #2 exports was China - do you comprehende now lol

Hard to believe people fall for this , honestly Matt you're smarter than this

We've pointed out these problems about Milei. I don't trust him. I don't trust any politician. At the same time, he has made some good moves which have had a positive impact. For instance - https://x.com/BowTiedMara/status/1824819145818718291

Doug and his guys are massive Walter Block fans, and skirt the Israel and Zionism issue like paid for politicians. These facts will go unresponded to and their HOPE AND CHANGE meme under Milei will continue. Don't waste you breath, I had to leave a private signal group, with Doug and others, it was stuffed with Zionist simps.

Expand full comment

First of all, you've never been in a signal group with Doug. Doug doesn't even use signal. Second, Doug specifically addressed Walter Block's comments here: https://youtu.be/1wxNGRwsmzo?si=q7OFlSjO6TYMoDEI&t=873 Why lie?

People don't like facts. They like fools to agree with them so they can continue to live a lie. Milei is a classic case of misplaced 'hopium'.

Milei is of Italian and Croatian descent—Italian on his father's side, to be precise. Not that it really matters… But if you have any sources that say otherwise, I'm all ears. Your comment does contain some factual information, but that’s how a good lie works: mixing truth with falsehood.

Apparently facts ruin the hero worship experience. You will now receive lots of "Duh!" replies. The sad fact is that most people are easily led ... evident even in these comments.

Thanks for a great read. I am on the fence about him. I feel as if it could go either way, and he could end up just like the rest. As always: the problem is the government, no matter who is there. :)

Sure, but just look at what he's already done, on his first day no less (below). That has to count for something. He's cutting it down to size from within... The only alternative would have been a violent uprising or takeover.

"On his first day in office, he abolished or merged half the federal ministries, laid off at least 50,000 state workers, devalued the currency by 50%, halted all public works, and slashed subsidies on fuel and electricity."

Most people do wonderful things at first. One person or group in charge always slides into corruption. As has been mentioned, other people did wonderful things in Argentina, and look where it is now.

People need to stop looking for saviours to be their daddy. Who is going to stop him if he does things that are less wonderful? He is an interesting case study for sure, but freedom doesn't lie with one person who is under pressure to conform to those with greater power solely interested in corruption and manipulation.

Firing and stopping projects is easy, and any monkey with a button can do that. Let's see if he gets to the reconstruction part before we applaud him. Trump loved firing people too.

Nothing is easy in Argentina. The country has been run by the worst kind of political mafia for the last 70 years and mismanaged for even longer. The trade unions have their tentacles wrapped around every major institution and sector of the economy. They can flood the streets with people at the drop of a hat. With few exceptions, the media is also extremely corrupt and co-opted. It’s a sheer miracle he’s been able to accomplish this much in such a short time. I don’t think the guy deserves the typical politician treatment, especially since he never was one.

I wholeheartedly agree with your point that people need to stop looking for saviors. But nobody I know in Argentina is sitting back, crossing their fingers, and hoping the government will solve their problems. People are struggling and want their country to do better. I think that’s a perfectly reasonable desire, given how much potential Argentina has had and still has. All 'the people' want is for the government to get out of the way. There’s no “looking for saviors to be their daddy” in that.

Expand full comment

This is now tangential. Nothing is easy anywhere. Sorry, but I do not share your hero-worship of the man. He is a weak puppet, and it will be revealed in time, but my comments will be forgotten. My hope is not in the man, but the people.

You are missing the obvious: everything has to change, even terrible dictatorships. You can only bleed a system for so long before you need to release, wait, and reshape your hold. This is the stage the country is in currently.

I was a child refugee at 5, an economic immigrant at 49, and I know the “third world” very well. This man needs to do something more than what any person in government should be doing. Until he rebuilds, not just fire people and turn off programs, he is not the hero you make him out to be. Some of his actions looks good fiscally in the short term. As a former architect, when you just turn off large-scale projects, it ends up costing the masses even more. At least Bukele is straightforward and honest.

You cannot fix government. Government IS the problem. If — as you said — “All 'the people' want is for the government to get out of the way” then they should fix the daddy issues that looks to government to do the right thing. No one is a politician until they are one.

You're an interesting guy, Jo. In just a few paragraphs, you went from being 'on the fence' about him to calling him a 'weak puppet.' At any rate, it might make more sense to visit Argentina (or at least talking to some people who actually live there) before jumping to conclusions, especially if you feel so strongly about the subject.

Expand full comment

You might see it that way. Perhaps I was merely being polite instead of jumping in with a full opinion. I like positive things in life. The fact is, my precognition has not really failed me during my life, and my answers do not come from the written word.

I've lived in a country with a president like him. I don't feel strongly about this, and as I said, you've gone off on yet another tangent by redirecting this to be all about me. Please do not do that. He has done nothing so far that he shouldn't have. It’s the least he could do. When he rebuilds, and he turns Argentina into what it could be, then you can smugly say I was wrong. As I said, he will not be the saviour you thing he is. I know this not by written words or political nonsense, but from a spiritual place.

The true changes will come from the people, not him. He is weak. I sensed it from the very beginning. I am on the fence because he hasn't done much. Tearing things down is the easy part. Where is his plan to turn the problem into the solution? Even if he were the hero appear to think he is, tell me this: how will he turn something designed to be the problem into the solution? He can't. Mark my words on this: the solution will come from the people, not him.

Hi, it seems like Argentina is 'set-up' perfectly for change. The key I think is the Falklands Islands. When Argentina gets the Falklands (which I believe they will when the UK collapses and I'm from the UK) Argentina could be an excellent investment. That I'm almost certain of. Thank you for both articles.

Expand full comment

Thank you for reading! I'm curious, though, why do you think the Falklands are that important? I mean the oil field is huge, yes, but Argentina is resource-rich already.

Expand full comment

Yes the oil is huge. I think getting Falklands will give confidence internally and with external investors. The situation I think is no different to China and Hong Kong. I don't think a country can be taken seriously politically if it cannot unify what is there's. I think Falklands is a must if Argentina wants to be taken seriously as a world player, at the very least an agreement of some sort that favours Argentina. Thank you for your reply.
