funny how the government has set its sights on all the programs that help poor people but neither DODGE nor anybody else has ever thought of maybe curtailing the budget for the military. At least SS is not an "entitlement" it's actually paid by the people; the same cannot be said about the military budget which is simply a gift to the MIC.

To those of us who got suckered into paying for this miserable piece of sh_t and now get our check, this is no laughing matter. It is quite clearly the government giving us the finger.

I understand they are going to try to "privatize " it. That should have been done ages ago, along with the "Post Awful". The government destroys everything that it touches. Neither side will do anything, as they will never be elected to dog catcher, if they do. They need to get rid of Medicaid,.... scam that it is, before Medicare or Social Security. I paid into the system, along with the boomers, and I want my money given back to me that I put in. If they think they have trouble now,.... wait until pissed off seniors storm the government..ha-ha!

The government spends all the Social Security tax money in the year they receive it, replacing it with the paper IOUs that now sit in the filing cabinet in Parkersburg, West Virginia.

Is this the greatest example ever of why one shouldn't trust government to "manage" money for the benefit of anyone except itself? DOGE has been the much needed spotlight on what our national government is really about, and it sure isn't to benefit America or the majority of Americans.

I like the part of AI screening for fraud.

I have long believed it should be restored into a trust with AI screening for fraud but with a neat little twist. Create a PowerBall lotto type system that keeps paying into it. Maybe smaller totals but more of them so people get interested. After years of running it, collecting what is paid into it and running a tight ship on only those qualified can draw from it. Its still a Ponzi and probably always will but it does become a different animal all together.

I knew it was bad but, wow that is one for the history books. Is it any coincidence the grift oops I mean the gifts all began after 1913.

This argument is as old as Reagan. Congratulations on the regurgitation. But you left out the part where the government has been ‘reallocating’ these funds however they like for at least 40 years. Gin up as much hate for boomers as you can, which isn’t difficult considering how lost the younger generations are, and maybe you’ll closer to your goal.

'Gin up hate for boomers’? Are you sure you’re commenting on the right piece?

A month or so ago the “Everything is the fault of cruel those selfish boomers” campaign started and is continuing. They are on your team whether you like it or not.
