Because it's a creeping crisis—not something that hits you in the teeth immediately. But if people looked around closely, they'd see its consequences everywhere.

"quite disturbing"

You deserve an award for understatement of the year.

Dear Lau,

Thanks for another very excellent article. This time on the looming, and ever more rapidly approaching, financial crisis. You and at least 20 other writers that I listen to on the reader, have been updating this story for years.

Perhaps the time has come when we must scratch our heads and figure out what we (you and I and all your readers) can do to stop this out of control freight train on a direct path for DISASTER. (There are literally dozens of similar disasters and similar freight trains in similar mode.) WHAT CAN WE DO TO PUT ON THE BRAKES?

Can we stop writing, reading, talking, and commenting about these huge problems, and spend that same time and energy thinking about what each of us can do to stop these disasters from happening?

Sincerely,

Liam

Thanks for the note, Liam. Did you see the P.S.? Needless to say, there's no collective brake on this situation, just what you can do as an individual to ameliorate your own circumstances. My job is to keep you abreast of what's happening so you're not in the dark. That's how I see it.
